What Is Pulsed Electromagnetic Field (PEMF) Therapy?

Pulsed electromagnetic field therapy is a safe, effective treatment for numerous health conditions.  Unlike medication or surgery, PEMF therapy doesn’t carry risks of dangerous or serious side effects.  And because PEMF devices are available for home use, it doesn’t require multiple trips to a healthcare provider for treatment.  PEMF therapy can be used whenever, wherever it’s convenient for the person who needs treatment.

PEMF therapy can be used with other health care modalities to reduce pain and inflammation, speeding recovery and healing.

But what, exactly IS pulsed electromagnetic field (PEMF) therapy?  How does it work?

PEMF therapy in a nutshell

Just from the name, it’s clear that PEMF therapy uses magnetic pulses for healing and recovery.  But why do these magnetic fields have an impact?  Your body has electric charges, and just like devices that depend on electricity or batteries to keep them going, every now and again your body needs recharging.

Your body contains trillions of cells, so it’s no wonder that sometimes, some of those cells have broken down.  PEMF therapy gets to the root of the problem, with the intention to reverse cell damage, instead of simply treating symptoms.

Healthy cells have a balance between both positive and negative charges.  As these charges flow between cells, electrical currents are generated, stimulating cells so that positive charges can enter through open ion channels.  When nerves are stimulated, as the inside of the nerve or muscle cell becomes more positively charged, electrical currents become electrical pulses called “action potentials.” The signals travel throughout the body through the nervous system, cause muscles to do their work and generally communicate throughout the body, balancing various body functions.

When this flow of electrical currents is disrupted, cells are damaged.  Disruption may be from trauma, disease or toxins.  Cells are then unable to function as efficiently as they should.   Pulsed electromagnetic therapy repairs the damage by restoring these positive and negative charges to their ideal state so they can perform their natural functions properly.

The cautionary tales about electromagnetic fields, such as those generated by cell phones or x-ray machines, which cause ionizing radiation, are not applicable when it comes to PEMF therapy.  The frequencies used for PEMF therapy generate non-ionizing radiation, generally accepted as harmless to humans.

Benefits of PEMF therapy

Research has indicated that PEMF therapy is effective for a wide range of physical and neurological issues, from acute injury or health problems to chronic pain.

Research has found that PEMFs are an effective tool against pain, including post-surgical pain, pain from diabetic neuropathy, joint pain from osteoarthritis, and chronic back pain. PEMF therapy has also been shown to speed the healing rate of nonunion fractures.

PEMFs also work to decrease inflammation, which is at the root of many chronic conditions, including fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and autoimmune disorders.

There is evidence that PEMFs improve circulation and may potentially have an impact in improving outcomes in some types of cancer.

Studies have also found PEMF therapy to have a marked positive impact on depression and anxiety with long-term, daily treatment.

While some conditions deep inside the body require high-intensity PEMF systems to be helpful in stimulating healing, for pain management and general health maintenance, lower intensity systems are very effective.  PEMF devices like the FlexPulse are a budget friendly, versatile, portable and non-invasive alternative treatment.

A safe alternative for better healing

The low intensity of most PEMF therapy, particularly units available for home use, mean there is no danger of excess exposure that could lead to significant adverse side effects.  With these devices, like the FlexPulse, treatment time can vary from just a few minutes to continuous overnight use, depending on the problem being treated.

The FlexPulse was developed based NASA stem cell research done more than 15 years ago and decades of research on brain entrainment and neurofeedback. By increasing stem cell production, the FlexPulse promotes safe, natural regeneration with no side effects.  Carefully selected brainwave entrainment frequencies mimic brain patterns to promote relaxation or alertness, enhance sleep, and relieve pain, dependent upon your needs.

The FlexPulse, which uses a rechargeable battery, has a peak intensity of 200-300 Gauss, providing enough power to offer effective, long term pulsed electromagnetic (PEMF) therapy for pain management and healing.  With six programs with frequencies ranging from 3 Hz to 1000 Hz, the FlexPulse is appropriate for a wide range of applications for the whole family. The wearable system comes with two small pad applicators.  It’s lightweight and portable, making it easy to use anytime, anywhere.   The system comes with a 30 -day satisfaction guarantee and a 2-year International warranty, making it a no-risk healing alternative.
